2. What qualities make someone a good friend?

For example, when I was going through a challenging period, my friend stepped in without hesitation and provided a listening ear, which helped me get through it. This kind of unwavering support is the backbone of any strong friendship and cannot be taken for granted.

Another essential quality is empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. This helps friends connect on a deeper level, as they can relate to each other’s experiences and feelings. For instance, if a friend is going through a tough time, being able to say, “I know how you feel” can make them feel heard and validated. Such understanding creates an environment where both people feel safe to express themselves, fostering a healthy and enduring bond. Phrasal verb: Step in (to intervene or help in a situation) is a perfect example of how a good friend is willing to provide assistance in times of need.
