IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:

Today, I would like to tell you about a time when I lent a helping hand to a child who was struggling with English.

It happened about a year ago when my longtime confidant (someone you trust and share secrets with – bạn tâm giao) reached out to me, feeling extremely distressed (worried and upset – lo lắng và phiền muộn) about his son’s upcoming high-stakes (involving serious consequences – có tính chất quyết định) English exam. His son had been grappling with (struggling to understand – chật vật với) grammar and vocabulary, which put him at risk of failing. Since English is a cornerstone (a fundamental part – nền tảng quan trọng) of many academic and professional opportunities, I knew I had to step in.

At first, I was hesitant because my jam-packed (completely full – kín lịch) schedule barely allowed me to breathe. However, I firmly believe in the saying, "A friend in need is a friend indeed," so I managed to carve out (allocate – dành ra) time to tutor his son. Over the course of a month, I designed a tailor-made (customized to fit specific needs – thiết kế riêng biệt) study plan, which included bite-sized (small and easy-to-digest – nhỏ gọn và dễ tiếp thu) grammar lessons and immersive (deeply engaging – mang tính đắm chìm) English-speaking activities.>> Form đăng kí giải đề thi thật IELTS 4 kĩ năng kèm bài giải bộ đề 100 đề PART 2 IELTS SPEAKING quý đang thi (update hàng tuần) từ IELTS TUTOR

I must admit, teaching him was no walk in the park (not easy – không dễ dàng), as he initially lacked motivation. However, through consistent reinforcement (repeated encouragement – củng cố liên tục) and engaging drills (interactive exercises – bài tập tương tác), he gradually gained confidence. I also lent him some well-curated (carefully selected – được chọn lọc kỹ lưỡng) English books and conducted one-on-one (individualized – trực tiếp 1-1) sessions to ensure he had a solid grasp of grammar.

When the exam results were announced, I was over the moon to learn that he had passed with flying colors (with excellent results – đạt kết quả xuất sắc). His father was eternally grateful (deeply thankful forever – biết ơn vô hạn) and even told me that my support had been a game-changer (something that significantly alters a situation – bước ngoặt quan trọng) in his son's academic journey. Seeing the joy on both their faces was truly rewarding beyond words (extremely fulfilling – không gì sánh bằng), and it reinforced my belief that lending a helping hand, even in small ways, can make a world of difference.

IV. Part 3

How can people help their neighbors?

There are various ways in which individuals can foster a sense of community (thúc đẩy ý thức cộng đồng – to encourage a strong feeling of belonging and support among neighbors). One effective way (một cách hiệu quả – a practical method) is by offering practical assistance (sự giúp đỡ thiết thực – tangible help that meets real-life needs), such as running errands for elderly neighbors who struggle with mobility. By doing so, people can demonstrate genuine compassion (lòng trắc ẩn chân thành – deep and sincere kindness toward others), which in turn strengthens social bonds. For example, a person who helps a neighbor with grocery shopping not only provides immediate relief (sự giúp đỡ tức thời – assistance that solves an urgent problem) but also fosters long-term goodwill (thiện chí lâu dài – positive relationships that last over time). In addition to this, organizing neighborhood initiatives (các sáng kiến trong khu dân cư – community-based programs) can be beneficial, such as hosting clean-up drives or cultural events that promote social cohesion. These activities help create a tightly knit community (cộng đồng gắn kết – a neighborhood where people have strong relationships), ensuring that no one feels isolated. When people actively participate in such efforts, they cultivate a spirit of reciprocity (tinh thần cho đi và nhận lại – a mindset where people help each other mutually), making their community a more supportive place.

New Vocabulary:

  • foster a sense of community (thúc đẩy ý thức cộng đồng)

How can schools encourage students to help others?

Schools play a crucial role in instilling altruistic values (truyền dạy giá trị vị tha – teaching students the importance of selflessness) in young minds. One effective strategy (một chiến lược hiệu quả – a useful method to achieve a goal) is incorporating service-learning programs (chương trình học tập phục vụ cộng đồng – educational activities that involve community service) into the curriculum, where students engage in activities such as tutoring underprivileged children or assisting in elderly care homes. These experiences not only broaden their perspectives (mở rộng tầm nhìn – help students understand different social realities) but also nurture a sense of responsibility (nuôi dưỡng ý thức trách nhiệm – develop an awareness of duty and accountability). For example, a student who volunteers at a shelter may become more empathetic towards the struggles of the homeless, leading them to contribute more actively in the future. Furthermore, schools can establish peer mentorship programs (chương trình cố vấn đồng trang lứa – initiatives where older students guide younger ones), allowing students to support one another academically and emotionally. Such initiatives foster a culture of empathy and cooperation (văn hóa đồng cảm và hợp tác – an environment where people understand and help each other), making the school community more inclusive. If schools consistently reinforce these values, students will develop a lifelong commitment to social responsibility (cam kết lâu dài với trách nhiệm xã hội – a lasting dedication to contributing to society).

New Vocabulary:

  • instilling altruistic values (truyền dạy giá trị vị tha)
  • one effective strategy (một chiến lược hiệu quả)
  • service-learning programs (chương trình học tập phục vụ cộng đồng)

Do you agree with the view that developed countries can help developing countries by giving training and skills?

Providing vocational training and skills development (đào tạo nghề và phát triển kỹ năng – education aimed at equipping individuals with practical abilities) is one of the most sustainable solutions (giải pháp bền vững – a long-term approach that ensures lasting benefits) for assisting developing nations. One compelling reason (một lý do thuyết phục – a strong justification) is that technical education enhances employability, allowing individuals to secure stable jobs and contribute to economic growth. For example, offering IT training to young adults in developing countries can help them tap into the global job market (thị trường việc làm toàn cầu – employment opportunities available worldwide), reducing reliance on foreign aid. Additionally, skill development fosters self-sufficiency (sự tự lực – the ability to support oneself without external help), empowering communities to become economically independent rather than perpetually dependent on external assistance. Beyond individual benefits, training programs also strengthen national industries (ngành công nghiệp quốc gia – key economic sectors of a country), enabling countries to produce skilled labor forces that drive technological innovation (đổi mới công nghệ – advancements in science and technology). Ultimately, investing in education and skills transfer is a more pragmatic approach (cách tiếp cận thực tế – a realistic and practical method) than providing direct financial aid, which can sometimes lead to misallocation of resources (sự phân bổ sai nguồn lực – inefficient or improper use of funds).

New Vocabulary:

  • vocational training and skills development (đào tạo nghề và phát triển kỹ năng)
  • sustainable solutions (giải pháp bền vững)
  • one compelling reason (một lý do thuyết phục)
  • the global job market (thị trường việc làm toàn cầu)
  • self-sufficiency (sự tự lực)
  • national industries (ngành công nghiệp quốc gia)

  • misallocation of resources (sự phân bổ sai nguồn lực)

Do you think humans naturally want to help others?

There is substantial evidence to suggest that humans are hardwired for empathy (được lập trình để đồng cảm – naturally inclined to understand and share the feelings of others). One reason is that cooperation has been an essential survival mechanism throughout history, encouraging people to form interdependent communities (cộng đồng phụ thuộc lẫn nhau – societies where members rely on each other for survival). Studies in neuroscience have shown that acts of kindness activate the brain’s reward system (hệ thống khen thưởng của não – neural circuits responsible for pleasure and motivation), reinforcing altruistic behavior. For instance, when individuals donate to charity, they often experience an emotional high (cảm giác phấn chấn về mặt cảm xúc – a strong feeling of happiness and fulfillment), which motivates them to continue helping others. However, while people have an innate capacity for kindness, external factors such as social upbringing and cultural values significantly influence how they express it. In societies that prioritize individualistic pursuits (những mưu cầu cá nhân – goals focused on personal success rather than community well-being), altruism may not be as prevalent. Conversely, in tight-knit societies (xã hội gắn kết – communities with strong social connections), helping others is often second nature.

New Vocabulary:

  • hardwired for empathy (được lập trình để đồng cảm)
  • interdependent communities (cộng đồng phụ thuộc lẫn nhau)
  • reward system (hệ thống khen thưởng của não)
  • an emotional high (cảm giác phấn chấn về mặt cảm xúc)
  • individualistic pursuits (những mưu cầu cá nhân)
  • tight-knit societies (xã hội gắn kết)

Is international aid always beneficial?

International aid plays a crucial role in supporting struggling nations, but its effectiveness hinges on proper implementation (hiệu quả phụ thuộc vào việc thực hiện đúng đắn – success depends on how well it is carried out). One major benefit is that humanitarian assistance can provide immediate relief (viện trợ tức thời – urgent help in times of crisis), such as food, medicine, and shelter, during natural disasters or conflicts. For example, international organizations often step in after earthquakes or floods to prevent famine and disease outbreaks. However, in some cases, foreign aid can create a cycle of dependency (vòng luẩn quẩn phụ thuộc – a situation where continuous assistance prevents self-reliance), discouraging recipient nations from developing self-sustaining economies (nền kinh tế tự duy trì – economic systems that function without external support). A case in point is when excessive food aid disrupts local agriculture, making farmers unable to compete with free supplies. Furthermore, misallocated funds (quỹ phân bổ sai – money used inefficiently or for the wrong purposes) can fuel corruption rather than addressing urgent issues. A more pragmatic approach (cách tiếp cận thực tế – a practical and realistic method) would be focusing on long-term capacity building (xây dựng năng lực dài hạn – strengthening a country’s ability to manage its own development), such as education and vocational training, to ensure lasting improvements.

New Vocabulary:

  • effectiveness hinges on proper implementation (hiệu quả phụ thuộc vào việc thực hiện đúng đắn)
  • immediate relief (viện trợ tức thời)
  • a cycle of dependency (vòng luẩn quẩn phụ thuộc)
  • self-sustaining economies (nền kinh tế tự duy trì)
  • misallocated funds (quỹ phân bổ sai)
  • pragmatic approach (cách tiếp cận thực tế)
  • long-term capacity building (xây dựng năng lực dài hạn)

Synonyms & Antonyms:

  • Synonyms for “a cycle of dependency”: a reliance trap, a perpetual need for aid, economic stagnation
  • Antonyms for “a cycle of dependency”: economic autonomy, financial independence, self-reliance
