1. What it is

• One of the most cherished traditional celebrations in my country, Vietnam, is Tet, which is also known as the Lunar New Year. 
• Tet is a time of great significance and joy for Vietnamese people.

2. What you do to celebrate it

• During Tet, my family and I engage in a series of customs and traditions:
  • In the days leading up to Tet, we thoroughly clean and decorate our home. We believe this act symbolizes a fresh start and the removal of bad luck.
  • We set up an altar to pay respects to our ancestors with offerings of food, fruit, and incense. This is a way to show gratitude and seek blessings for the new year.
  • On the eve of Tet, my family gathers for a special reunion dinner called "Tet sum vầy." 3. Who you celebrate it with

• Tet is a family-centered holiday, so I celebrate it primarily with my immediate and extended family. 
• It's a time when relatives from different parts of the country come together to celebrate, making it a truly special occasion.

4. And explain why you enjoy it

• • Main idea 1: Tet allows me to spend quality time with my family and strengthen our bonds. 
    • Supporting idea: The sense of togetherness is heartwarming and brings a feeling of unity and love.
    • Example: One of my favorite Tet traditions is visiting my extended family. We all live in different parts of the country, so Tet is the only time of year that we get to see each other. We gather at my grandparents' house, and we spend the day talking, laughing, and playing games.
  • Main idea 2:  I appreciate the rich cultural traditions associated with Tet.

      • One of my favorite Tet traditions is setting up the banh tet tray. This tray is filled with a variety of symbolic foods, each of which has its own special meaning. For example, the sticky rice cakes represent prosperity and good luck, the candied fruits represent sweetness and happiness, and the tea leaves represent longevity.
