Describe a traditional festival.

You should say:

• When the festival occurs
• What you did during it
• What you like or dislike about it
• And explain why this a festival or national holiday is important

• When the festival occurs
  • One of the most important traditional festivals in my country is the Lunar New Year, which usually occurs in late January or early February. >> IELTS TUTOR lưu ý Cách dùng động từ"Occur"tiếng anh 
  • It is a time when people take a break from work or school to reunite with their families, exchange gifts, and participate in various cultural activities.
• What you did during it
  • During the Lunar New Year, my family and I would usually clean our house to remove any bad luck from the previous year and prepare traditional dishes for our reunion dinner. 
  • We would also visit our relatives and friends, exchange red envelopes filled with money as a symbol of good luck, and watch the lion and dragon dances on the streets.
• What you like or dislike about it
  • One of the things I like about the Lunar New Year is the festive atmosphere that surrounds the holiday.   • However, there are also some aspects of the Lunar New Year that I dislike, such as the heavy traffic and crowds of people who flock to the popular tourist destinations during the holiday.
• And explain why this a festival or national holiday is important - The Lunar New Year is an important festival for many reasons. 
  • Main idea 1:  It is a time when people reflect on the past year, set new goals for the future, and strengthen their relationships with family and friends.

    • Example: For example, families gather for a reunion dinner on New Year's Eve and exchange red envelopes filled with money as a symbol of good luck. People also decorate their homes with red lanterns and couplets with auspicious phrases.
  • Main idea 2: Furthermore, it is a national holiday in my country, and it is a time when people take a break from work and school to relax and enjoy time with loved ones.
