Let's begin. Okay, so today I am going to provide a little bit of information about one of the world's most popular and most visited websites, and this is YouTube. And everybody knows YouTube is a video sharing site where anyone in the world with an Internet connection can share their videos.
The only thing you need in order to share your videos on YouTube is a YouTube account, so you have to register for an account. Once you have that, then you are free to upload any kind of video that you wish, and the reason that people will do this is because YouTube is so popular. A lot of people go there to watch videos every day.
Recent figures showed it more than half a billion people watch or have a channel on YouTube, not watch videos but half a billion channels on the YouTube platform, and the reason that so many people have these is because they can make money. So if people watch your videos, they will be advertising on those videos and then when someone clicks that advertisement, the person who created and uploaded the video makes money.
But when you come to create your YouTube channel and when you try and make videos and you want to make money. There are some kind of unwritten rules that you should follow. You don't want to have a video that is too long or too short. If you have a one-hour video most people won't watch that and if your video is only one minute, it's very difficult to give useful information. The ideal number of minutes you want for your video is five, so this is short enough to give valuable information but also people don't lose attention, they work don't have to sit and focus for one hour or more.
And YouTube is also popular because anyone can do it, anyone can create a channel, anyone can put their videos on the obviously you do have to have the technology, and you have to have a bit of knowledge, but YouTube really is available for anyone not just for news or media companies.
And it might surprise the younger generation to realize that YouTube isn't that old, so this is the year 2017, YouTube was only created twelve years ago. It's not a very long-running website, but it is extremely popular, so popular that 4 billion videos are watched every day not uploaded, but 4 billion videos are viewed by people every day and in all countries around the world, that shows you the power of YouTube to get your message out or to give your ideas and opinions when 4 billion views are happening every day on the platform.
